Swing Moves Classes
Scott & Lisa help dancers enhance their joy of dancing with 1-nite swing dance classes on select Mondays in 2026.
Each class is designed to build upon skills and moves dancers gained previously. No partner is required. Everyone dances!

Class Day: Select Mondays
Time: 7:00 pm - 8:20 pm
Location: St. Thomas Episcopal Church, 2000 Highland Ave, Rochester NY 14618
1-Nite Cost: $15 per person, per nite in advance; $20 at class

Class Levels & Prerequisites

Level 1
No prior dance experience necessary. Just bring comfortable shoes (no heels or heavy tread) and a great attitude.

Level 2
Have taken Swing 1 classes or beginner swing dance classes, and understand the concepts of being dance-ready and having a partner connection. Should be able to execute the basic step, inside and outside turns, triple steps, the leader’s turn, and getting from closed to open positions. Additional prerequisites may apply.

Level 3
For dancers who have taken Swing Moves 2 or an equivalent level 2 class, and who are able to “connect” while dancing, are able to execute turns with triple steps, cuddle, she goes/he goes, a variety of open and closed position moves and cross-hand moves.

Level 4
For dancers who have taken Swing Moves 3 or an equivalent level 3 class, and who have mastered complex East Coast Swing dance moves and sequences, with excellent connection.
Swing Moves 2 Module
Class Objectives: A fun level 2 East Coast Swing dance class where you will learn or refine your dancing skills! Experienced Swing Dancers will learn new skills, including leader moves, cross-hand moves, and more!
Last Date to Register: Thursday, April 9
1-Week Class, 1 Monday Nite:
April 13: Swing Moves 2 Module
Class Prerequisites: Have taken a Swing 1 or beginner swing dance class, or understand the concepts of being dance-ready and having a partner connection, and are able to execute the basic step, inside and outside turns, triple steps, the leader’s turn, and getting from closed to open positions.
Swing Moves 2 Module
Class Objectives: A fun level 2 East Coast Swing dance class where you will learn the basic cuddle move, cuddle with throw-outs and several variations. Learn or refine your skills in getting into and out of the moves and more!
Last Date to Register: Thursday, April 23
1-Week Class, 1 Monday Nite:
April 27: Cuddle Move Variations
Class Prerequisites: Have taken a Swing 2 or equivalent swing dance class. Must maintain strong frame and partner connection, and be able to execute the basic step, inside and outside turns, triple steps, the leader’s turn, getting from closed to open positions, and the basics of cross-hands.
Swing Moves 2 Module
Class Objectives: A fun level 2 East Coast Swing dance class where you will learn the basic sweetheart move, walks and several variations. Learn or refine your skills in getting into and out of the moves and more!
Last Date to Register: Thursday, May 7
1-Week Class, 1 Monday Nite:
May 11: Sweetheart Move Variations
Class Prerequisites: Have taken a Swing 2 or equivalent swing dance class. Must maintain strong frame and partner connection, and be able to execute the basic step, inside and outside turns, triple steps, the leader’s turn, getting from closed to open positions, and the basics of cross-hands.
Meet the Instructors
Scott and Lisa have more than 40 years’ dancing experience between them and have taught various swing dance lessons for newcomers and experienced dancers, alike. As two of the lead Swing-In organizers, they enjoy sharing their love of the dance with others.
